Bookings and Quotes are automatically created with charges populated by the rates engine, based on the seasons, rates, surcharges, and taxes you have entered. Those are only the default charges, though, at any point, you can change the charges to override the amount. Maybe you want to add an additional night, a cleaning fee or subtract a last-minute discount. we'll take you through those scenarios here.

Change Quote Charges
Users can change the charges for a quote by navigating to the specific Quote > Charges > Change.
Change Booking Charges
Users can change the charges for a booking by navigating to the specific Booking > Charges > Change Charges.
Manually Change Charges
If there is anything at all different about what this Booking or Quote should be charged, click the "Change" button. This will display a list of the current charges for the booking, which would reflect the original dates.
Change the charges by clicking on the Add Charge button.
This will create a new, empty Rent line at the bottom of the list. Enter the amount that should be charged for the extra night(s), and an appropriate description. The Taxed checkbox will automatically be selected when users choose Rent from the Item dropdown menu.
Notice that, when users add the additional rent charge, percentage tax lines DO NOT automatically update to charge the appropriate tax amount. Users need to drag that Rent line above the Tax lines by grabbing the hamburger icon on the left of the item line so that the appropriate taxes are applied to the additional night. Click Save.
Users can also delete the item line by clicking the trash icon on the right. When satisfied with the booking charges, click Save.
Review Taxes
Normally, when users change charges, the tax section should retain a percentage in the amount section for the tax, so it will automatically update when you add a new charge.
However, if the tax field contains a fixed amount, it may not automatically update. This might seem counterintuitive, but we don't want hosts unknowingly increasing agreed-upon charges by adding an additional fee that doesn't warrant it.
The easiest way to reset the taxes is to change the tax category to something else and then back. This will load the correct percentage in the amount box and adjust the tax totals appropriately.
Other Charges
OwnerRez users can follow the same process for both quotes and bookings. Here are a few examples:
Add a Cleaning Fee
Normally, you configure cleaning fees to be added automatically via a surcharge. You can also add a cleaning fee to a quote or booking by changing the charges. You can also use this technique to add extra cleaning fees to bookings or quotes for special cases, such as pets or events.
Add a Last Minute Discount
Normally, you configure last-minute discounts via a surcharge. You can also add a last-minute discount to a quote or booking by changing the charges.
Reset Charges
If at any point you want to undo your custom changes and return to the property or quote rates, users can click the Charges section of the quote or booking and select either the Reset to Quote Charges or Reset to Property Rates buttons. This will recalculate the rates based on the standard rates users have configured.
Collect Payment
See the Collect Payments Manually support article for complete instructions.
Caveats
Users should always remember:
- If the final scheduled payment has already been made, any additional payments must be collected manually.
- Nightly rates for additional nights could be affected by Dynamic Pricing tools.
