Create Rooms & Connect Photos to Rooms

OwnerRez supports the concept of "Rooms" on listings where you can define any room in your vacation rental and show photos for those specific rooms. Users that are Airbnb API Connected will appreciate this feature that supports the requirement of associating your property photos with rooms and accessibility amenities that will sync to Airbnb. To learn more about all of the OwnerRez Property Photos functionality, we recommend that users view the Photos Overview and Adding Photos, Rearranging & Deleting first.

Create Rooms

1. Navigate to Properties > Your Property > RoomsAny existing bedrooms and bathrooms you had previously added will still show under the new Rooms tab. Click on Change.
2. In the Bedroom Section, you can do the following:
  1. Add additional Bedrooms by clicking on the +Add Bedroom icon. The new bedroom will appear below the current Bedrooms that you have currently set for your Property.
  2. Add or change the Bedroom Name.
  3. Toggle on/off the Ensuite Bathroom? checkbox.
  4. If desired, add additional Notes about the Bedroom.
  5. Add the Type and Number of Beds in the Bedroom.
  6. Select whether the Bedroom is a Private vs. Shared Space with other guests outside of their travel companions/party.
  7. Add Accessibility Amenities for the Bedroom.
  8. You can also delete the bedroom by clicking on X Delete Bedroom.
  9. Add as many Bedrooms needed to accurately describe your property.

Did you know that "twin beds" mean different things in different countries?

  • U.S. terminology refers to a twin bed as a single bed, so you will need to note that your twin bed sleeps 1.
  • Other countries understand twin beds to be two single beds in the same room.
3. In the Bathroom Section, you can do the following:
  1. Add additional Bathrooms by clicking on the +Add Bathroom icon. The new bathroom will appear below the current Bathooms that you have currently set for your Property.
  2. Add or change the Bathroom Name.
  3. Select the Type of Bathroom from the drop down list as shown below. Note that full and half baths are included in bathroom count. A stand alone shower is not.
  4. If desired, add additional Notes about the Bathroom.
  5. Add the Features in the Bathroom.
  6. Select whether the Bathroom is a Private vs. Shared Space with other guests outside of their travel companions/party.
  7. Add Accessibility Amenities for the Bathoom.
  8. You can also delete the bathroom by clicking on X Delete Bathroom.
  9. Add as many Bathrooms needed to accurately describe your property.
4. In the Other Rooms Section, you can add other spaces, such as interior Living and Dining Rooms or exterior spaces, such as pools, patios, etc. To add those other spaces, you can do so by completing these steps:
  1. Add additional Other Rooms by clicking on the +Add Room icon. The Other Room will appear below the current Other Rooms that you have currently set for your Property.
  2. Add or change the Name.
  3. Select the Type of Room from the drop down list as shown below. This is your opportunity to select the option that best describes your room/space.
  4. Toggle on/off the Ensuite Bathroom? checkbox with any Ensuite Bathroom associated with the Room.
  5. If desired, add additional Notes about the Room.
  6. Add the Type and Number of Beds in the Room. This is a great spot to note additional sleeping spaces such as a Sleeper Sofa/ Futon, Cots/Murphy Beds or Air Mattress. You can also add additional information about these Beds in the #5 Notes section.
  7. Select whether the Room is a Private vs. Shared Space with other guests outside of their travel companions/party.
  8. Add Accessibility Amenities for the Room.
  9. You can also delete this Room by clicking on X Delete Room.
  10. Add as many Other Rooms needed to accurately describe your property. The possiblities are numerous. As long as you have a photo of the Other Room, space or Assessible Amenity, OwnerRez recommends that Users add that Room/Space.

Connect Your Photos to Rooms

To connect your Photos to specific Room, follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to your Photos section by clicking on Properties > Your Property > Photos, conveniently located just above the Rooms section on the left menu. Click on Change.

2. Click on the  tag icon on any photo and a pop up window will appear.
3. In the Room/Amenity drop down list, you can select the Room or Amenity you wish to connect to this photo. In the example below, we are selecting Pool.

Remember that we created an Other Room titled Pool in #4 of the previous section. Be sure to select the option that best describes your room. You also have the opportunity to edit the Photo Caption here.
4. Click Save at the bottom right of the pop up window.
5. Repeat steps #2 through #4 for All Photos:

  1. Click on the  tag icon for each photo.
  2. Select the Room/Amenity.
  3. Click Save at the bottom right of the pop up window.

6. Finally, and most importantly, when you have completed Step #5 for All Photos, Click Save at the bottom of Change Photos.
7. Users can check to see of all Photos are connected to a Room or Amenity by clicking on Photos on the left menu navigation.

You can see by the example below, Photo #3 is listed as General or "Not associated with a specific room or amenity." To fix this, we can click on Change and complete steps #2 through #6 to resolve that.

Private vs. Shared Spaces

OwnerRez Users have the ability to define rooms or spaces in their properties as private or shared.

What are shared rooms or spaces? Shared rooms or spaces are shared with other guests or hosts outside of your travel party, such as a shared kitchen or outdoor space.

Private rooms or spaces, such as living rooms and kitchens, are reserved for the exclusive use of your travel party only, such as renting an entire home or condo.

Properties listed on Airbnb, including API connected Airbnb properties, support shared spaces, and rooms should reflect whether it is a private or shared space.

VRBO does not support inside shared spaces.

Accessibility Amenities

It is important to note that for all API-connected Airbnb properties that have set Accessibility Amenities, Airbnb requires at least one photo for each Accessibility Amenity. For more specific Airbnb information, see the Airbnb article for hosts, Adding Accessibility Features to Listings.

See the Accessibility Amenities section for specific information.
