How to Use Roku Guest Mode in Your Vacation Rental

Roku guest mode is a simple and free way to offer a better streaming experience and protect guest privacy. If you already use Roku TVs in your vacation rentals, you may be sitting on one of the easiest guest-friendly tools available. Roku Guest Mode is built into Roku OS and can quickly transform your TVs into a branded, hassle-free experience for your guests. Check out this guide for more tips on integrating security and privacy into your vacation rental smart TV setup. With Guest Mode turned on, your guests can log into their own streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+, then select a checkout date. On that date, Roku automatically logs them out and clears their personal information. Say goodbye to guests forgetting to log out and messaging you after checkout. Best of all, Guest Mode is entirely free and does not require any new hardware or third-party tools. Roku even lets you display a custom welcome message on the home screen, a great marketing opportunity to greet guests and reinforce your brand. If you want more ways to market your rental property, check out our Vacation Rental Marketing Guide.

Roku Guest Mode may not have the bells and whistles of some premium vacation rental TV platforms, but it is a solid and no-cost solution that improves the guest experience and reduces support overhead. It is easy to turn on, easy for guests to use, and it takes one more task off your plate. If you already own a Roku TV, enabling Guest Mode is a quick win that adds professionalism to your setup. In the future, we’re interested in exploring opportunities for OwnerRez to integrate directly with Roku, specifically to support automatic check-in and check-out updates, as well as personalized on-screen displays such as welcoming guests by name upon arrival. Once Roku offers the necessary capabilities, we’ll look to implement these features to the fullest extent possible.
