Starting this month, we will be publishing monthly webinar announcements instead of releasing a blog post every week to inform you about each webinar individually. Welcome to the first full-month webinar blog post! You may have noticed that we are publishing monthly product updates now instead of weekly posts. You can find the April Product Update post here (/blog/april-product-update-new-sidebar-...

I wish in OwnerRez for the Booking .com integration, but perhaps others, there was a setting to change surcharges from non taxable to taxable on the data that comes in on the booking as charges. As an example I have a surcharge that booking .com charges tax on since they handle these in their system directly but when the amount and surcharge comes over to Ownerrez it’s flagged as non taxable - so e...

    Hi Patricia,

We greatly appreciate your constructive criticism here. Thank you for taking the time to outline the issues you have experienced. We would love to explain more about the points mentioned.

    Tax Calculations

We receive tax information via the API from integrations that use live quoting (which includes OwnerRez) as a fixed amount, not a percentage. As such, it’s up to our sys...

I would like OwnerRez to be able to calculate and quote minimum charges, rather than offer to tell guests it's a 'violation'.

This is best explained by example:

If I have a minimum night stay for a holiday season of 7 nights/1 week, I'm still perfectly happy to accept a 5 or 6 night booking for that period, as long as the guest pays for the full 7 nights. And during holiday seasons, for exa...

In the chat window I should easily be able to see basic booking info. The property especially, and dates of stay. It takes too many clicks to get to that info and on mobile it's even worse. Please put all the relevant information easily visible in here. I would suggest the Listing name, dates of stay and the guest's phone number...

Is there any way to update a contact's photo? We have almost exclusively Airbnb guests and it seems like OR should be able to import profile pictures based on the guest's Airbnb account, but ours just show a bunch of seemingly random fractal patterns. I cannot for the life of me find any way to update this picture within OR, even manually.

When a host changes a guest's reservation date, OwnerRez kindly displays what has been paid and what the new booking would be.  This is great for bookings in the future but it's more common for me to have guests add a day to their stay in which case their stay, if it were available, would be highly discounted.  I reduce pricing aggressively 7 and 3 days prior to a stay if I can't book it.  So a gue...

Let’s say a guest causes $1,500 in damages and your security deposit is only $500. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with what they’ve done in situations like this. I’m wondering specifically for Airbnb, given they have their “aircover” program. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it. It seems like a lot of people say they don’t really pay out anything. However I’ve also heard people say they’ve go...

I just added this feature request, so it’s very disheartening to see that after a year of issues with this, no attempt at a fix has been made. Sigh. I may just have to switch locks back over. I do not understand why it’s not set up like a trigger, where it will run until it syncs.

If you find the registered mark on a symbol copier site and copy it, you can paste it into the description.

Here's an example -- you should be able to select this, copy, and then paste into the description:

    ®

Note that many listing sites strip out symbols, so it may not go through to the listing site, depending on how they handle symbols.

One other thing you can do is use parens to...

    Hey Scott & Christia,

What you're describing sounds a bit off, like there's something we should dig deeper on here. To the best of my knowledge, those triggers should adapt to the change of dates. Could I ask you to write this in to help@ownerrez.com with some example ORB#s so we can take a closer look?

If the change of dates took place after the trigger was already scheduled to fire, that...

    100% agree Robert. I simply don't understand why this isn't a working function in OR. by Shelley S (/forums/users/347417064) – Aug 23, 2024 4:47 PM (UTC)

I think it's because the powers that be are too focused on integrations and not on making simply good software that functions independently of the tune listing sites force them to play.

I've literally had OwnerRez support staff laugh at...

    Hi Jhem,

When a booking is passed over to us from an integration such as the Airbnb API integration, it gets directly correlated and linked to that bookings Reservation Number from Airbnb. You can view this reservation ID on Airbnb bookings, under the overview tab, within the general info section. You'd also be able to click on the "Channel" Tab to see relative information that would only be vi...

Hey Caleb, I went to the helpdesk with this very same, very concerning issue, and they told me to post it in the forums.  Ahem....

Not only is my inbox overflowing from spurious non-messages (see below) I'm seeing messages that I shouldn't see, between one of my clients and her guests at properties that I don't co-host. I'm faced with either letting her know that OwnerRez is somehow "leaking" m...

    Hi Nikolay,

Ahh, I don't have a payment processor set up on my test account, but you're referring to the form that looks similar to this one correct? Just instead of payment details has fields for guests to input their contact/personal info.

You can add required fields to the form in question, but the existing information is no...

    Hi Cody,

Currently, not generally. While we do not currently offer this, you should check if it's been suggested already! Use the link below to search our Feature Request forum. If it's not there you can write this up as a suggestion so other clients can vote up your ideas for new and improved features in OwnerRez:

    YES YES YES TO THIS!

Having worked with and for email software tools throughout my career, I'm surprised a tool like OR that's on the robust side of things amongst its competitors doesn't have this.

I just finished doing exactly what Erik described here setting up multiple templates and triggers just to accommodate the inclusion/exclusion of pets. Not only is it time consuming to set up, it...

This is the primary reason I still pay for Hospitable -- their robust use of short codes and conditional triggers is unmatched! I'm able to drill down so far as to have my wording say "you" in messages to guests who booked for only themselves and "y'all" for when there's more than 1 guest on the booking! It is one of the small details that helps my messages sound so personable even when they're aut...
