Add/Remove Surcharges Based on Discount Code Usage

I’d love to see a feature in OwnerRez that allows surcharges to be automatically added or removed based on the presence of a discount code. This enhancement would streamline workflows and offer greater flexibility in managing fees, saving time and effort for owners and managers.

Suggested Implementation:

The functionality could be integrated into the existing Conditions section of the Surcharge options. Specifically:

• Add a condition for "Discount Code" with the options:
  • "is one of" (select specific discount codes)
  • "is anything but" (exclude specific discount codes).
• A selectable list of active discount codes would be provided, similar to other existing options like property, season, or listing site.

When a discount code is applied that matches the condition, the specified surcharge could either be added or removed automatically.

Potential Use Cases:

This feature could be incredibly useful for a variety of scenarios, such as:

1. Fee Waivers
   • Automatically remove service fees, admin fees, management fees, or other charges for specific discount codes (e.g., owner stays, family/friends bookings).
2. Custom Cleaning Fees
   • Replace the standard cleaning fee with a reduced rate for certain discount codes (e.g., owner stays).
3. Pet Fee Adjustments
   • Waive or adjust pet fees for specific guest types (e.g., family members traveling with pets).

Why This Feature Matters:

Currently, I have to manually adjust fees on bookings after a discount code is applied, which can be time-consuming and prone to errors. Automating this process would:

• Save time by eliminating the need for manual fee adjustments.
• Reduce the risk of forgetting to apply the right surcharge changes.
• Enhance the booking experience for family, friends, or special guests by ensuring the correct charges are automatically reflected.

This seems like a relatively simple addition that would provide significant flexibility and value for a wide range of use cases. It aligns well with OwnerRez's focus on automation and efficiency.

I'm looking for something similar. We reduce our management fee if people pay by check. Currently we are using the following workaround (explained by Ask Rezzy):

Discounts in OwnerRez are calculated as a percentage of rent or a fixed amount - they don't target a specific line item like a management fee. There's no built-in way to apply a discount only to the management fee while leaving rent untouched.

What you can do is create a negative surcharge (a surcharge with a negative dollar amount) in the Management Fee category. That would show up as a separate line item discount on the booking charges, distinct from rent. You'd configure it under Settings > Pricing > Surcharges > + Create Surcharge, pick the Management Fee category, and enter a negative fixed amount.

This negative surcharge reeks havok on our line item pivot because it still looks like a "discount" and technically it is a reduced management fee and the rent is not discounted. We would love the ability to set up a custom discount but have it apply to expenses rather than rent!
