Most payment processing companies charge around 3%. When cancellations occur, we usually absorb this fee, resulting in a loss for us. Instead of a flat fee, I recommend implementing a percentage-based fee to help cover the processing costs.
If you credit the same card back the fee should reverse.
We charge 20% of the rent for cancellation and have a strict no-cancellation policy that is waived if we can re-rent the property.
There's a time limit of some sort? 14days?? and then the fees are not reversed
I charge $75 flat fee which seems to work out but 3-5% would be realistic of what it costs us to cancel as we don't get credit card fees back
I agree 100%. This should be a pretty straightforward modification and this is a pain point I think many more people feel than the upvote number here indicates.
