This used to be a thing, before it was removed. At the time of its removal (late 2020), there was a mention of a possible future means of adding an automated surcharge or discount based on payment type. Has there been any further discussion of this subject?

In the future, will there be an automated fee based on guest selection?
There is a new method we have discussed building that will add a processing fee on to the booking based on the credit card payment made at the time the credit card is run. This method should be much more intuitive on all sides because it simply increments the payment at the time it's run and the guest understands that there's a fee added on. On the booking charges, a special Processing Fee will show below the taxes. To be clear, this has only been discussed, not developed or scheduled for engineering. We have no ETA on that yet, but we may release it in the future.
Any new thoughts on credit card surcharges? Nowadays it is almost becoming the norm to see the surcharge. Wondering if more people might be interested in this feature now?

Hey Tim,
Sorry we never got back to you here. We had a similar request come in that I've merged into yours, and that brought my attention to your questions.
While we would like to do this, there are a number of "gotchas" that have to be thought through first. From a UX standpoint alone, there's a lot to consider.
With the workload our current roadmap presents us with in 2025, I don't see us being able to work this in quite yet. I'm afraid that though we would like to add this in the future, it's just not in the cards right now.
This request will remain open to garner more votes, so feel free to share it with likeminded users who would be willing to give it an upvote!
This feature may solve the problem any California based host has with CA SB 478.
Bri,
This could also be done with a discount code that was payment type based. So if you offered a discount code for 3% off that only worked with "other" payment types this could work in place of a surcharge. I know that one of the reasons OR stopped doing cc surcharges was the challenge with with way everything was structured and multiple payments etc. But I just wanted to put this idea out there as a possible workaround down the road if OR ever changes the checkout "flow".
I am going to add a credit card processing fee to my bookings but would like to offer the guests a 3% discount if they use Vemo, Zelle or Paypal but don't know how to offer that and process payments, please advise how this can be done with your system. Also, it is confusing on how to make the administrative fee appear as the last item on a quote, your program says use a number to apply it how do I know which number it is?
Hi Rick - Adding a discount for an offline payment type is currently a manual process. You can set up a manual discount and apply it to the booking once it has been confirmed.
To place the admin fee at the bottom for a direct booking, you can check the "Place this below tax line items" box, using the instructions found here:
