Record manual/offline security deposit (e.g. via Check)

It's currently possible to record manual/offline payments for rental fees/surcharges/taxes but not possible to do that for security deposits. Ideally we'd be able to do that for security deposits as well and have the security deposit status updated when that happens (so that any triggers based on security deposit status are properly evaluated). 

As an example, for longer-term guests we often will accept check as a payment method and the guest will include the security deposit in their check amount for the regular booking fees. If we record the security deposit as an offline/manual payment, that over-reports the revenue (and reports we use for sales taxes/other monthly reconciliations are skewed/inaccurate). 

I agree - this is an issue for us, as we only accept wire transfers and payments by cheque. Is there an update on this?

Yes this would be helpful for the security deposits that fail in OR but work when we manually do them in stripe. 

Adding our vote for this as well. We just ran into exactly this issue on a 61-night direct booking.

Our guest paid a $750 refundable security deposit via Venmo. We can record his rent payments as manual/offline payments, but there appears to be no way to record the $750 specifically as a security deposit received.

Recording it as a normal payment would incorrectly reduce his outstanding rent balance. Leaving it unrecorded means OwnerRez doesn’t reflect that we already hold the security deposit and may continue generating security-deposit reminders.

This is also relevant to our regular winter monthly rentals. We frequently have guests renting properties for several months during the winter season, and payments—including deposits—are commonly made through check, Venmo, or PayPal rather than by credit card.

A simple “Record Offline Security Deposit” option under Security Deposits would solve this. Ideally, it would allow us to enter the amount, date received, payment method (check, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, ACH, cash, etc.), notes, and eventually the date and amount refunded.

This seems like an important addition as OwnerRez supports more hosts managing both short-term stays and monthly/mid-term rentals within the same system.
