What can be done to transmit wire and ACH requests securely to our Guests.

Too many scams. Exposing this information is bad practice in Custom Payment Options.

Allow Custom Payment Options to be split up so that there is one for ACH, one for Wire, one for Zelle etc, rather than a bucket for all of these.

"Please confirm the details with me by phone before sending — just good practice with any wire."

MORE WIRE INFO

OLD SCHOOL To safely request a bank wire transfer for a service, issue a formal invoice via a secure PDF or accounting software, outline exact bank routing and account numbers in writing, and require the client to independently phone your office using a verified, trusted number to verbally confirm the details before sending funds. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]Safe Request Practices

  • Use a formal invoice: Send an itemized PDF detailing the service, cost, and payment terms instead of casual text messages.
  • Provide complete routing data: Include your legal business name, bank name, routing number, and account number accurately.
  • Require verbal confirmation: Instruct the client to call you using a known, pre-established phone number to confirm the numbers before initiating the transfer.
  • Avoid email-only changes: Never accept or send updates to wire instructions via unencrypted email threads without a phone check. [1, 2, 3]

Alternative Payment Methods

  • ACH transfers: Slower than wires, but reversible or traceable in cases of error.
  • Escrow services: Excellent for high-value services to hold funds securely until work is approved.
  • Invoicing platforms: Use verified merchant processors that allow direct bank or card payments. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

NEW SCHOOL Is there a commercial service that sends secure PDF wire instructions to a person via email?

Yes, specialized commercial wire fraud prevention platforms exist specifically to bypass standard email entirely and securely deliver wire instructions. Instead of sending a raw PDF attachment that a hacker could intercept and modify, these platforms send a secure email notification directing the client to an encrypted portal to view the verified banking data.
