Better Icon for Unchecked Amenities

I'm extremely confused by the icon chosen to represent amenities that are not checked. I totally thought it was a checkmark saying my property had these amenities! The very slight color difference between these two states is just too hard to distinguish. It needs to be something a lot more distinct, like very much grayed out instead of only a shade lighter, or - even better - a standard checkbox that's empty when it's not checked.
