We’ve got big news for our OwnerRez users who rely on SMS to stay connected with guests: SMS messaging has expanded to all North American Numbering Plan (NANP) (+1) countries and territories!
That means in addition to the United States and Canada, you can now send and receive messages with guests in places like Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, and more. From the Caribbean to U.S. territories in the Pacific, SMS is now available in 24 regions total, making guest communication more seamless than ever.
What's Changing?
- ✅ Expanded Reach: SMS now works across 22 additional +1 countries and territories, on top of the U.S. and Canada.
- ✅ No Setup Changes: If you've already registered your SMS number with a U.S. or Canadian area code, your messages will deliver across the expanded regions automatically.
- ✅ Consistent Experience: Guests can reply from their local +1 number just like before, ensuring smooth two-way communication.
Why It Matters
Vacation rentals are global, and your guests might not always be booking from the mainland U.S. or Canada. With this expansion, you’ll be able to:
- Keep in touch with guests vacationing in the Caribbean 🌴
- Reach travelers in U.S. territories like Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa
- Build trust and reduce friction with reliable SMS communication, wherever your guests are
A Quick Note on Costs
All the new countries and territories are included at the same price as normal US and Canada sending!
Where Can You Use It?
Here’s a sample of newly supported locations:
- Caribbean Nations: Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Lucia, and more
- U.S. Territories: Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands
- British Overseas Territories: Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos, and more
Final Thoughts
This has been a long-requested feature, and we’re thrilled to finally say: OwnerRez SMS works across the islands and beyond! 🎉
Keep your guests informed, answer their questions on the go, and never worry about where that +1 number is coming from. If it’s in the NANP, you’re covered.
