Whimstay Setup & Connecting

OwnerRez has partnered with Whimstay to provide an integrated API connection between the two systems. This allows OwnerRez users to handle their listings and bookings from Whimstay efficiently. Our Channel Management feature is extremely powerful and can significantly simplify your channel advertising. Learn how it works by reading our Channel Management Overview article.

What is synchronized?

Our integration pushes listing content, rates, availability, bookings, and reviews to Whimstay. Whimstay will send you bookings with full charge details.

Whimstay idiosyncrasies

  • Any Security Deposit requirements must be clearly stated in your property description.
  • Whimstay does not honor cancellation policies configured by users in OwnerRez.
    • Guests can cancel their reservation with Whimstay up to 60 days before their scheduled arrival.
    • Guests cannot cancel their reservation with Whimstay if their scheduled arrival is within 60 days.

Setup

To get the integration process started:

  1. Inside OwnerRez, go to Settings > API Integrations > Connect a Channel, then select Connect Whimstay.
  2. Make sure to configure the channel settings and save.
  3. Once you save, find your Account ID on the Instructions tab, and complete the following steps.

Opt-out of Damage Protection

Did you know that Whimstay offers Damage Protection through RentalGuardian, just like OwnerRez? You can choose to opt out of or exclude Damage Protection by channel.

However, OwnerRez recommends that you retain the built-in OwnerRez Damage Protection program for all bookings, no matter the channel the booking came through (because it is the only way to ensure that you are covered equally and consistently on the owner/manager side), but we understand that you might feel comfortable with Whimstay's option and feel that it's redundant also to have the owner/manager side coverage.

Before you do that, we recommend that you verify with Whimstay directly that your bookings are covered by Damage Protection policies by Whimstay by reaching out to their support team at Getbookings@whimstay.com.

Delist

If you would like to delist your properties from this channel, please reach out to their support team at Getbookings@whimstay.com and request that your properties be delisted. Once their support team has notified you that you can disable this channel, you can do so inside OwnerRez.
