Listing Content Import

If you have a property already listed on Airbnb or Vrbo, you can import property content directly from the public listing pages. This is a one-time import. Watch the videos linked below to learn how to do that.

Airbnb and Vrbo listings must be active and bookable to complete the listing import. Users should note that attempting to import Airbnb and Vrbo listings that are paused/snoozed or otherwise unbookable or unavailable may result in import failures.

💡 Note:

If you import data from Airbnb, note that the following information is not imported:

  • Rules
  • Guest Instructions
  • Channel Rules

You'll have to manually configure those in the appropriate Properties sub-menus in OwnerRez.

If you import data from Vrbo, note that the following information is not imported:

  • suitability
  • property type
  • house rules
  • occupancy rules
  • check in/check-out
  • living area
  • owner listing story etc./reg number
  • rate notes

You'll have to manually configure those in the appropriate Properties sub-menus in OwnerRez.

Also:

  • If you choose to import from both Airbnb and Vrbo, make sure to un-check the Photos option for whichever one you do second.  Otherwise you'll get two copies of all the photos. We recommend you import Vrbo photos as they tend to be of higher quality.
  • If you have high-quality source photos, then un-check the Photos option for all imports, and manually upload your originals.  OwnerRez will preserve your high-res versions, and submit the maximum supported quality to each channel, which not only may be different between channels, but can change over time as their systems improve.

Import Property Content

Here's how to import your listing data:

Navigate to Properties, select + Add Properties, and click Import from Airbnb or Import from Vrbo. If you have both, we recommend Vrbo, as it provides just a bit more info for the import.

Import Vrbo Property

  1. If you already have created the property in OwnerRez, make sure to pick the "Update existing property" option and select the existing property to update -- otherwise the import will create a duplicate property.
  2. Hit the import button and the system will churn for awhile downloading all of the content and photos and eventually complete the import and link you to the updated listing content areas for the property.

NOTE: This is a one-time import and will only import the photos, descriptions, spot rates, and amenities. It doesn't import calendars or bookings.

To import calendars, follow our Calendar Import guide.

Troubleshooting

Both the Airbnb and Vrbo listing import tools attempt to retrieve your public listing data; however, Airbnb or Vrbo can sometimes identify these requests as non-human and block them. Unfortunately, beyond retrying to import your property content again, there isn’t much OwnerRez can do to prevent this issue.

If retrying the import process does not resolve the issue, you will need to import the listing data manually as in copy and paste your property content into OwnerRez.

Whenever you see the message "The server returned an error response" in the import tool, it means that Airbnb (or Vrbo) has not accepted the request. It's important to try again or consider a manual import if needed.
