Strategic discounts can boost your Vrbo listing's performance. When used wisely, they attract more guests, encourage longer stays, and help fill gaps in your booking calendar. This support article will guide you in configuring discounts in OwnerRez that sync directly to your Vrbo channel integration listings.
Additionally, OwnerRez Standard Discounts are pre-configured discounts (including length of stay, early bird, last-minute, or rate adjustment) that are configured in OwnerRez and applied to all direct bookings, as well as synced to your Vrbo channel integration listings. Discount Displays
Configuring Vrbo discounts in OwnerRez helps your properties stand out with strike-through or comparison pricing and special badges, allowing your property listing to be included in special Vrbo Ads, such as Black Friday, etc.
- Vrbo OneKey and Mobile Promotion discounts are displayed to guests with strikethrough prices, visually highlighting savings and using an anchoring effect to make the lower price seem more attractive.
- OwnerRez New Listing, Early Bird, Last Minute, and Length of Stay discounts feature special Vrbo badges with strikethrough prices, visually highlighting savings and utilizing an anchoring effect to make the lower price appear more attractive.
Here's an example of an individual Vrbo property listing that has an OwnerRez Last Minute discount Vrbo badge applied.
On a Vrbo search results page, where listings can be easily compared side by side, a listing with an OwnerRez Last Minute discount Vrbo badge applied appears as follows.
Vrbo Rate Adjustment discounts are not shown with strike-through prices, special badges, or as separate discount line items; instead, they are included in the nightly rate.
Stacked Discounts
There are instances where guests can apply multiple Vrbo discounts for a single booking, also known as "stacked discounts."
The following Vrbo discounts can be stacked.
- Rate Adjustments can be stacked with all discounts.
- Length of Stay discounts can be stacked with Early Bird, Last Minute, OneKey, and Mobile Promotions.
Early Bird, Last Minute, OneKey, and Mobile Promotions cannot be combined or stacked with each other. Instead, the highest applicable discount will be applied.
New Listing
Vrbo New Listing discounts help set your new listing up for success by increasing your visibility in search results during the first 90 days, with a 20% off with strike-through pricing discount for guests on your first three bookings.
To activate your Vrbo New Listing, navigate to Settings > Channel Management > your Vrbo channel integration > Properties tab > and in the Actions dropdown list, select New Listing Discount.
Select "New Listing Discount" to check your eligibility and/or enroll in the New Listing discount.
Vrbo New Listing Discounts will appear in your booking transactions as RENT-MERCHANDISABLE-DISCOUNT.
If you decide you no longer want it, return to the same place - there'll be a red Disable button to remove the discount.
Please note that canceled reservations are also taken into account when evaluating eligibility. The New Listing Discount is designed to boost traffic to a listing, so canceled reservations are included in the total of the first three bookings.
OneKey
OneKey or "Member-only" deals target trusted Vrbo travelers by offering special discounts to members (Blue, Silver, and Gold) based on their membership level, allowing you to stand out in a competitive market while attracting valuable guests who book earlier, stay longer, and spend more than non-members. These Vrbo OneKey discounts are displayed to guests with members-only strikethrough prices, visually highlighting savings and utilizing an anchoring effect to make the lower price appear more attractive.
Navigate to Settings > Pricing > Discounts > + Create Discount > Channel Specific > OneKey.
Add a description, use the sliders to adjust the OneKey discount for each member discount tier (Blue, Silver, and Gold), and add any conditions or positions. The minimum supported discount values are Blue (10%), Silver (11%), and Gold (12%).
Select the discount categorization and options, and add any PM options as needed. Click Save.
Users are limited to one OneKey discount per property.
Mobile Promotion
Mobile or "Audience" discounts reach a wider audience and increase traffic to your listing by offering deals to travelers booking on their mobile devices. This helps you attract consistent demand from desirable guests by boosting your mobile visibility. Vrbo Mobile Promotion discounts are displayed to guests with strikethrough prices, visually highlighting savings and utilizing an anchoring effect to make the lower price appear more attractive.
Navigate to Settings > Pricing > Discounts > + Create Discount > Channel Specific > Mobile Promotion.
Add a description, use the sliders to adjust the OneKey discount for each member discount tier (Blue, Silver, and Gold), and add any conditions or positions. Select the discount categorization and options, and add any PM options. Click Save.
Users are limited to one Mobile Promotion discount per property.
Caveats
While OwnerRez Standard Rate Adjustment discounts are synced to Vrbo, only OwnerRez Standard Discount (Early Bird, Last Minute, and Length of Stay), OneKey, and Mobile Promotions are eligible to take advantage of Vrbo promotional opportunities.
Older custom discounts with names or descriptions that include "last minute," "weekly," "monthly," or "early bird" in the name are no longer valid. Only Standard Discounts, such as Early Bird, Last Minute, Length of Stay, OneKey, and Mobile Promotions, are valid.
Any newly configured discounts may take some time to be fully synced to Vrbo.
Limitations
These are the Vrbo discount restrictions we've documented so far.
- There is a limit of 15 discounts allowed per listing on Vrbo.
- Multi-tier discounts (OneKey Blue/Silver/Gold and Gold, as well as Length of Stay with multiple date ranges) each count as one discount.
