To Make Greenshot Your Default for Screenshots
Unbind Print Screen key from Snipping Tool:
- Open the Windows Start Menu by clicking on the button at the bottom left of the screen.
- Click into the search bar and type “accessibility keyboard settings”
- Click on the “Accessibility keyboard settings” option that pops up below
- In the pop-up window that appears, scroll down to the “On-screen keyboard, access key, and Print screen” section.
- Make sure the switch for the “Use the Print screen key to open Snipping Tool” option is in the “Off” position.
- Try clicking the Print Screen key again. If this does not work, try restarting your computer.
- If neither of those work, move to the steps below.
Make sure Greenshot is running:
- Double click on the Greenshot shortcut on your desktop.
- If nothing happens, try clicking the Print Screen key again.
- If you receive the error message below or Greenshot doesn’t work, move to the steps below.
Binding Greenshot to the Print Screen Key:
- Click on the “Show hidden icons” button on the bottom right of your screen.
- Click on the Greenshot icon.
- In the pop-up window that appears, click on “Preferences…”
- In the new pop-up window that appears, click into the text box to the right of “Capture region” and click the Print Screen key. You should then see the text “Prnt scrn” in the text box.
- Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the pop-up window.
- Try clicking the Print Screen key. If this does not work, contact Paul Hall.
