Action Needed: Security deposit settings for Airbnb have moved to your property Rules

Body

Hi [first name]!

We’re contacting you because one or more of your Airbnb channels was set to send Airbnb a fixed security deposit amount. That setting no longer lives on the channel page. Security deposits for all channels are now controlled by each property’s own rules.

What changed

The security deposit setting and the fixed Airbnb amount have been removed from the Airbnb channel page. Airbnb bookings now use the deposit amount, type, and timing set on the property’s Rules tab under Security Deposits.

You can also choose which booking sources require a deposit. On the Security Deposits edit page, “A security deposit is required for” lets you pick all sources, or all sources except the ones you choose.

What didn’t change

Deposits already scheduled on existing bookings stay as they are, unless you use “Update Bookings” in “Apply rules to other properties.”

What happens if you take no action

Airbnb bookings will use the setting under Security Deposits on the property’s Rules tab. If that amount is different from what your Airbnb channel was sending, your guests will be asked for the property’s amount instead. If the property isn’t set up to take a deposit, Airbnb bookings won’t get one.

What we recommend

  1. Open each property mapped to an Airbnb listing and go to the Rules tab > Security Deposits.
  2. Confirm the amount, type, and timing are what you want for Airbnb bookings.
  3. If you don’t want to require a deposit from Airbnb guests, choose “All sources except” and pick Airbnb.
  4. Save the property.
