Guest Instructions

Clear guest instructions minimize support requests, prevent property damage, and set accurate expectations. This leads to smoother stays, fewer complaints, and better reviews for hosts. In this support article, we will explain how to add guest instructions in OwnerRez.

Check In

To add guest check-in instructions, click on the upper-right pencil icon and navigate to the Check-in section

Select the Check-in Type from the dropdown list.Select the Check-in Type from the dropdown list.

If necessary, add more detailed check-in instructions to the Check-in Instructions area.

Directions

To add guest directions to your property, click on the upper-right pencil icon and navigate to the Directions section.

Wifi

To add guest directions to your property, click the upper-right pencil icon, then navigate to the Wi-Fi section.

Check Out Tasks

Airbnb

Users can add specific Check-out Tasks that will be pushed to your channel-integrated Airbnb listing and displayed on OwnerRez Hosted Websites only. Guest Check-out Instructions have been moved from Amenities to the more appropriate Guest Instructions > Check Out Tasks area. Edit these items by checking and unchecking each item. If available, after you've checked an item, you can add additional information by clicking on the Edit button to the right of the selected item. Users can add specific Check-out Tasks that will be pushed to your channel-integrated Airbnb listing and displayed on OwnerRez Hosted Websites only. Guest Check-out Instructions have been moved from Amenities to the more appropriate Guest Instructions > Check Out Tasks area.

Items added to the Check Out Tasks section will only be sent to Airbnb. No other listing channels support them, including Vrbo. Check Out Tasks will also be displayed on OwnerRez Hosted Websites.

Vrbo

Vrbo requires all California properties to disclose any required cleaning tasks, which should be listed clearly in your Vrbo channel integration House Rules (or Property > Channel Rules if your rules vary by property connected). Vrbo does not allow you to charge financial penalties for incomplete cleaning tasks, but you can submit a negative review of the guest if a required task was not completed and this consequence must be listed in your House Rules.

This does not mean you cannot collect a Security Deposit or charge guests for damages. Required cleaning tasks can include loading the dishwasher, putting towels in the washing machine, etc. You are still within your rights to collect security deposits if damages or an extensive mess is left behind.
